Founded in 1861 by members of the Disciples of Christ (a Protestant denomination), Chapman University certainly has a long and storied history as one of the oldest private academic institutions in California. It also ranks as one of the most prestigious universities nationally as well, achieving high academic rankings and top honors in publications such as The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. In addition to the distinguished academic accolades, the campus– which is centered in the historic district of Old Towne Orange– is stunningly beautiful in all facets, from the lush landscaping of the grounds to the building architecture.
Chapman University is rigorous and demanding academically speaking, but the deeply experienced faculty prides itself on fostering the type of learning environment that spurs innovative approaches to problem solving, analysis, and both creative and critical thinking. Chapman houses seven distinct schools and colleges including a cutting edge, state of the art film program and a highly renowned, fully accredited school of law.
The campus at Chapman University is eye-popping to say the least; here you’ll find a treasure trove of modern sculptures, meticulously manicured gardens, historical and modern architecture, sleek athletic hubs, and a seemingly endless list of other points of interest to draw your attention. Just a small selection of landmarks include the Berlin Wall fragment (which is situated beautifully in a serene garden complete with reflecting pool) and the Memorial Hall (constructed in 1921 and home to Chapman University’s auditorium).
Befitting its location in Orange County, the climate at Chapman is quite literally perfect, with the California warmth tempered by the cool ocean breeze coming off of the coastline. The school is located on prime territory with easy access to a host of popular attractions and destinations including Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, South Coast Plaza, Angel Stadium, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and of course, the beautiful beaches of Southern California.
